  • Reading Comprehension comes with a passage followed by questions that are to be answered on the basis of the information given in the passage. The passages can be on any topic including social sciences and humanities, physical and biological sciences, or a business-related field. // This section measures your ability to understand words and statements, understand logical relationships between significant points, and draw inferences. Reading skills such as main idea, supporting idea, inference, application, logical structure, style, etc will be tested. // In this section, you will learn how to read the passage for structure without getting lost in the dense information. You will learn 'active reading' and 'anticipatory reading' strategies to have the most efficient and effective way of comprehending the passage. The course will also give you a brief on various obstacles to comprehension and how to overcome them. Special emphasis is given to PASSAGE MAPPING and techniques of answering.
  • Critical Reasoning questions are based on a short reading passage followed by a question that asks you to find assumptions in the argument, identify flaws in the argument, weaken/ strengthen the argument, etc. Basically, it tests your ability to evaluate an argument and choose a response according to the question asked. // You will learn to analyze the argument and also to identify various parts of the argument such as premises, conclusions, and also logical gaps in the argument. //
  • Sentence Correction question presents a sentence, part or all of which is underlined. Five ways of phrasing the underlined part are given as the answer choices. You need to choose the best way to phrase the underlined part. Sentence correction is not essentially a grammar test. The various aspects of standard written English such as grammar, word choice, sentence construction, diction, correctness and effectiveness of expression, and even knowledge of stylistic conventions, etc are tested. The correct answer choice should be clear and exact, without any ambiguity, redundancy, or grammatical error.
