Course serves as an introduction to the instrument and will provide students with an instant access to making music on the guitar. Focus points will be strumming and rhythms, basic guitar chords, notes on the fretboard, tuning the guitar, and playing basic songs.
Students will be led through an intensive course to introduce them to the guitar. Course will be split into several units that cover various aspects of understanding the instrument and the music that can be created with it. Each day, students will be led through a routine of tuning their guitars, warming-up, group instruction, and independent group practicing and playing. Students will also learn basic maintenance of the instrument and how to change strings, clean the guitar’s surface, clean strings, and maintain tuning. Throughout the course, students will keep a notebook to record and reflect upon their process of learning.
I have been teaching students all over the world for almost a decade. With expertise in both Indian and western classical, I teach Bollywood, indie pop, and contemporary styles in both the classical or finger style as well as on acoustic or electric guitar. My vocal training was under Pandit Ashish Narayana Tripathi of the Benares Gharana, a classical artist and Padmabhushan award winner.
