  • Look at the chessboard, talk about its colors and squares. Play a "find the square" game by calling out colors and finding them on the board.

  • Introduce each chess piece using colorful and big pieces. Show how they move (like a king waves, a knight jumps, etc.) and let the kids imitate the movements.
  • Dance and move like different chess pieces (Queen's twirl, Knight's jump, etc.) to remember their moves.
  • Allow the kids to move the pieces on the board while explaining how each one moves. Use simple movements (like straight lines for Rook, diagonal for Bishop) to demonstrate.
  • Play a tag game where one piece (kid) captures others by touching them, mimicking capturing in chess.
  • Explain the importance of protecting the kings and queens (like protecting a treasure) and introduce simple rules like "Don't let your King get caught."
  • Engage in simple puzzles, like arranging pieces in a line or forming patterns on the board, encouraging kids to solve them.
  • Play short supervised games (like "Who can move the Knight to the other side first?") to practice piece movements and encourage friendly competition.
